Reclaimed Movie Theater Seats

When I decided to be a part of the first edition of the Blackout Fest I knew I wanted to do something special for the show. After catching a glimpse for these old theater seats I knew that this was it! Transform old theater seats to something that could compliment the home. Of course theater seats have been place in home before but it's usually done in a media room (when you have the space for a media room) and the seats are bolted to the floor. But what about the rest of us! Should we not enjoy a nice evening watching movies form the comfort of out homes while perched in a movie theater seat, popcorn in hand? Check out the process of me transforming reclaimed theater seats into unique pieces for anyone's home!

The final products will be featured at the Blackout Fest from August 10-19! There are 4 designs in total and I will also be featuring each on Eight Hundred Sq. Ft.! Stay tuned!!

Blackout Fest Showcase

I am SUPER EXCITED that I will be showcasing some of my latest pieces at the Blackout Fest!

Blackout Fest is an interactive art festival that allows an interactive experience between the artist and the observer. The objective of the festival is to give rising artists the opportunity to showcase their art in an open environment. Each season comes with a new theme, one that intrigues, inspires and utimately makes the observer question the purpose of the creation. This season's theme is "THE ULTIMATE QUESTION".
Come out and discover what my ultimate question is while pleasing your palates with the work of 34 other artists!

The festival runs from August 10-19. The event calendar can be found at www.blackoutfest.ca

Stay tuned. I will be featuring my pieces on my blog in the upcoming days. But for now I'll just give you a little taste.

12 Square Foot Office

You really don't need much space to create a functional office. When you are space challenged, a forgotten nook is all you need! A desk, chair, and a bit of pizzazz and presto!

When I moved into my place I wasn't quite sure what to do with the little corner in my bedroom that didn't seem to fit anything. After flipping through the March issue of Style at Home Mag and seeing the 'Out of the Blue' office space that was created essentially out of a notch in the wall, I realized I had something to work with!

MY 12 SQ. FT. WAS MORE THAN A CORNER TO PROP UP A MIRROR! It didn't take much to create my cute little office space. I picked up a few thrifted items, like the brass lamp and smaller picture frames (some of which I painted to freshen them up). I also picked a cool store display sign, "STRAIGHT FIT" and a manikin face that was used to display sunglasses at American Apparel.

High/Low: Chic Office Space

Style At Home's High/Low: Glam Office Space. Two rooms, one style. One of them cost $13,165 while  the other $7,768.  Can you tell the difference between the two?

The one on the right is the low option costing $7,768. Pretty good. There are even some pieces in the low option that I like better than the original $13,165 room, like the $150 tufted bench from Home Sense and the $20 black and white portrait on the side wall. I personally think we could have captured the same feel ofthe room for a fraction of the cost of the low room. Maybe one day I'll have to recreate this...High/Low/Penny-pincher...lol

Vintage Glam Condo

I absolutely love how Houmen Aromand transformed his 600-square foot builder-basic condo! He didn't shy away for a bold design just because his space is space challeged. In a small space you have to get creative and use every square foot creatively. My heart is throbbing for how he's injected impact into his space from the upholstered wall to the paneled moulding. Goes to show you how space (well... the lack of space) should never jeopardize style!

Dresser Turned Bar

The After

The final piece has stainless steel knobs (shown in the below picture). I tried out the white
and clear resin pulls but  decided to go with a little more metal for a sleek modern look!
